Last Dollar Road

We were a bit hesitant to take this road.  It has a reputation for being bumpy, impassable, requiring a high clearance vehicle, etc.  But, it is supposed to be pretty passable when the road would be dry.  We decided to give it a try.  We were rewarded by vast vistas on the south side of the Sneffel Mountain range.  There are old cattle ranches, quilt patterns of aspen and pine and open grassy fields.  If you drink Coors you might recognize Wilson Peak (I don't and I didn't).

Taken from overlook at Dallas Divide.

Whenever we saw the darker orange in the aspen we got excited.

The weather was variably threatening the whole day.

For Kati.

Just outside Telluride.

Lunch in Telluride was just the right way to end a long drive.  We would go home a shorter way!

For Barbara.

Tom is great at taking photos from the passenger seat while I drive.  This trip we got Karen up front and with Tom making suggestions from the back seat, she had a go at it.  She is pretty good!

Thanks for joining us.
