Sagehen Meadow

The meadow is located along a dirt road off Highway 120 which goes along Mono Lake. It is a very popular fall foliage location, but more importantly it is a year-round destination for bikers, hikers, snowshoe hiking, campers and equestrian riders. There is a 20 mile loop which is used by bikers in the summer.

We heard about this fall color spot just as it peaked. There is a road to the summit but it requires a 4 wheel drive. Tom explored the road leading to the summit but we decided we had plenty to photograph in the meadow. While the hill was impressive, I felt the real opportunity was in getting some more practice in pano-photography!

Ah, this could be fun!! Road as we approached our destination.

Yep, I would say it is peaked!

Kati Heads North Again

Kati just loves fall and winter in northern Arizona.  She sent these images as the best of her autumn colors of a photo-trip taken several weeks ago along Hart's Prairie Road and Aspen Corner.  The sunset was captured from a lookout not far south of Flagstaff heading home on I-17.  Several of the macro photographs had Kati on her belly!!!  She was looking for that special bokeh that Christopher O'Donnell gets at 24mm. I have tried doing that.  Not easy!!  Good job Kati.

I would find it hard to move from this spot.

Sunset

Greg and Ann arrived early in the afternoon.  There was still some time to get in some photography.  But, where to go?  I suggested driving towards Patagonia.  Tom had found some really good fudge at Ovens of Patagonia and was hoping to get more before we leave the area.  Off they went while I stayed home for some wonderful 'private time'.  Photographers are predictable.  If you go as far as Patagonia, why not check out Patagonia Lake?  They were treated to an awesome sunset over the lake.

Ann and Greg.

Don't feel sorry for me that I missed out on a great photographic opportunity.  I was certainly welcome to go with them.  While I prepared for dinner they captured images that were generously shared.  By the time they got back the table was set, dinner almost ready and we enjoyed great company over the enchiladas and salad Ann brought with her.  Life is pretty good!!
