North Rim Weekend

John took a camping trip to the North Rim with his son Scott to do some photography and catch up.  The weather was cool at night with the first night getting down to 20 degrees!!  He reports that the fall colors were just starting to fade but that there were still lots of opportunities to see fall color on the canyon walls as well as the surrounding areas.  There were no clouds this time of year but good sunrise and sunset lighting on the canyon walls.  I noticed a full moon in a couple of his photographs!!

OK, John.  You have me stumped on this one.  Where did you see bison up there??

Thanks so much for sharing, John.  I know I speak for others, it is always nice to see your photographs.

Road to the North Rim

We left for the North Rim from Williams.  What is a long trip made longer by frequent stops to shoot!  I can see your smile!  Below are some of our many shots of the Vermillion Cliffs area.

Colorado River flowing under the Navajo Bridge near Lee's Ferry.

Cars to the right and feet to the left!

Sand bar in Colorado River looking down from Navajo Bridge.

A real treat . . . a condor resting on the bridge!!

Hopping along.  Here we see that this is #54.

Haha!  Nono of us can remember which stop this was!  Ice cream stop?

As we headed up the hill towards the North Rim we began to see pine and eventually . . . aspen!  Rim shots and yellow aspen are up next.  Stay tuned.
