Waterfalls! Waterfalls!

There are eight different waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area and five of them are easily accessible from Interstate 84.  No surprise, then, that the fearsome six photographers were all about checking out the waterfalls first when we started our 4 days of capturing magnificent images together.  The memories we created were far better than any of the images you are about to see.  We hope that you enjoy the photos anyway!

Yes!!  I would raise my arms too if I were not toting a camera and tripod!

Multnomah

Taken while on the hike from Lower to Upper Horsetail.  Last time we were at Horsetail Falls (2013) it was raining so hard that getting up to the upper fall was not even considered.  So glad we got to do it this time.  Karen said she wanted to send photos that not everyone else took.  She nailed it here.

This is from the walk behind area at Upper Horsetail Falls.  He gives a hint of the interesting ceiling.

Only Greg and Ann could hike the difficult and treacherous path to Fairy Falls.  They returned with proof they had made it.  Neither took a tripod (understandable), so long shots were not possible.

We had had plan!  We would arrive at Multnomah Falls VERY early and get some great photos in before the hordes of folks arrived to look in awe (just like us) at what Mother Nature can give us.  Well, Mother Nature sometimes laughs at the plans that photographers make!  Fogged in with a light drizzle that even intensified into a good rain!  We took a few shots and then retreated to the lodge for a tasty and hearty breakfast.

From the parking lot.  Too close to the freeway barrier and the truckers were sounding their horns warning me to 'GET BACK'.  I moved when I got my photo but got pretty wet in the effort.  LOL

A hole in the fog!

Oh, the fog is lifting . . .

There are so many opportunities to capture images, sometimes with more emotion than the waterfalls.  They come up along the paths and the creeks leading away from the falls.  For us desert rats, these places are a wonderland!

On his way!!  I think this was taken on their hike to Fairy Falls.  If not, well . . . . any hike to a waterfall counts as there was plenty of that going on.

If green is your favorite color, this blog entry is your cup of tea.  Green tea!!

"Come on Carol.  We have to catch up with Ann!"  This is on the way up a steep trail to Upper Horsetail.

Nope, not going to catch up with Ann.  I want to dawdle, take my time, get rid of some lactic acid build-up and capture this scene of the Columbia River.

On the path to Upper Horsetail.  It is hard to watch where you are stepping and checking out the scenery.  But, this type of terrain can catch me off guard and cause me and my gear to go sailing.  Don't ask me how I know that with certainty!

Hmmmm . . . . this is a photo of?  Hmmmmm . . . . Sometimes it is better not to know exactly!  But, I did ask and this is 'just a wall' along a path.

Yes, Lefty our mascot was with us all week.  Here, getting a bit wet at Fair Falls.
