We Are Home

We arrived home this morning at 1 AM.  We got close to Yosemite National Park, could not confirm a hotel reservation near Mono Lake and quickly decided that Yosemite could wait until next time.  We thought of Death Valley, but it too was closed.  We looked at each other and quickly agreed that the option to just go on home was a pretty good one.

We have no photos to put up today.  I did not shoot at all and Tom was very busy navigating me through the CA traffic maze from Concord to Phoenix.  By the time we got out of traffic it was dark.

In case you are wondering, in the 46 days we were on the road we put 7,296 miles on the car, consumed 174 gallons of gas, stayed in 30+ hotels, drove through 8 states and did not lose any camera gear or personal items. Fortunately, we did not keep track of the number of photos taken.  The important number is how many we have kept six months from now after completing all of our organization and edits!

As I sit here typing this message it is impossible to convey what the trip has meant on a personal level. So, I won't try. If you ask me if I would do it again, my response is that I can be packed and ready to go in an hour!

We sincerely thank you for joining us and sharing our fall trip.  There will be many more trips and you will again be invited along.  We will leave the Travelogue up for a while for those who are wish to catch up or just go back as we are going to do over coffee one morning and look at the whole trip!  We might be surprised!!
