Blanchard Springs Campgrounds

Blanchard Springs has a a large spread out campground that accommodates a variety of campers from tenting to large Class A motor homes.   Most sites are located close to Mill Creek which starts at Blanchard Springs.  The camping sites are tucked under large trees and have all of the usual amenities such as bathrooms, fire pits and some have tables.  We ended up touring the area because we turned down the wrong road and realized we were driving through a great photogenic area.  So we stopped and got our cameras out.  I would love to park there if we were to come back to the area.

Greg at the North Rim

Greg spent 12 days with friends camping out with friends.  His friend, Kurt, knows many of the back roads on the north side of the canyon.  He shares some of the photographs taken during that trip.

Greg wrote that they were able to mountain bike along the rim.  That would be fun!

Oh Greg!  You have skunked me with this one.  I still have not managed to get a good photograph of that window!

They climbed up two different manned fire towers and were able to spend time with the folks that were working in them.  That is a lot of steps and Greg did two.

I could not do that.  Not because I am out of shape (I am) but i could not handle the looking down bit.

Greg reported seeing many deer, but apparently they are not in this photograph.

The group hiked down to Big Springs from one of the fire tower locations.  He wrote that the cabins there used to be for Forest Service employees only.  But, now half of them are available for just $65 per night.

Greg says they were camping.  Haha!  Camping in style, I think.

Even with a fifth wheel, having one of these in the evening makes it camping.

A very special thanks to Greg for sharing his vacation.  You rock, my friend!
