It stands to reason that the Folk Music Capital of the World, Mountain View, would have an amphitheater. They do and it is quite photogenic! There is not much water in the creek right now but the volunteers that were doing some maintenance the morning we were there told us that it can become quite 'full' in the spring. Fall foliage was just past it peak when we were there.
From the parking lot one walks down many steps to the creek and the amphitheater's seating. We are camped in Stone County. Around here quarried stone is the choice for building everything.
There are several gathering areas such as this one with a stone grill and seating.
The amphitheater seats are made of stone, of course. The lovely mossy covering does not deter people from using them.
Several hiking paths begin across the bridge over the creek. One will take a hiker all the way to the Ozark Folk Center.
Oooops! I turned on the lights.
Looking up to the parking area.
Upstream.
Downstream.
The volunteers told us it is an easy hike to the Ozark Folk Center. They were clearing the path.
It is a long way back up . . . half way point here!
