MIM

MIM is the acronym for Museum of Instrumental Music.  According to their website they "display more than 6,500 instruments collected from around 200 of the world’s countries and territories. Most displays are enhanced by state-of-the-art audio and video technologies that allow guests to see the instruments, hear their sounds, and observe them being played in their original contexts—performances that are often as spectacular as the instruments themselves. What’s more, all guests are invited to play instruments from around the world in the Experience Gallery."  Tom and I have been there and can assure you it is well worth the $20 general admission.  Plan on spending the day!

Kati mentioned that MIM is a tough photographer's challenge.  The reasons?  Like most museums, lighting is not ideal and displays are often so close together that it is difficult to isolate any item for a good composition. This is one location where you may find yourself scouting first and then laying out a strategy for a return trip.  You can photograph as you scout, but both Kati and I felt like a return trip was needed.

Kati got into the 'art of it all' and processed her photographs accordingly.

Red rules!

Wow!  Nice black and white conversion.

It is all in the details here.

Oh Kati!  I had to chuckle on this one.  You gave yourself away here.  We can see where your focus is!  You went for the flowers and the hummer.  So like Kati!

Good capture.  Bet you had to work around light reflections on this shiny and dark surface.

Thanks for sharing Kati.  May find a way to go back with you over the holidays.  Anyone else want to go with us . . . . let me know.
